In your head, hearing their exact voice or idiosyncratic tone in which they'd deliver a line. Like they've giggled next to you, rolled their eyes candidly or lifted their cheeks to be kissed by the creases of their eyes. Or you've spotted a face with the crinkles in the bridge of their nose when they're pulling faces, or the gaze of another has reminded you of their pondering. Sang or spoken softly, raised their head to check you're well and cried and hugged you all at once. All in the comfort and tangled abyss of your head.

What makes you miss somebody?
In your head, hearing their exact voice or idiosyncratic tone in which they'd deliver a line. Like they've giggled next to you, rolled their eyes candidly or lifted their cheeks to be kissed by the creases of their eyes. Or you've spotted a face with the crinkles in the bridge of their nose when they're pulling faces, or the gaze of another has reminded you of their pondering. Oh my, Beeta. You are THE perfect writer - you draw out emotions in me so strong that it's hard to believe I am just reading your words, not listening to them spoken aloud. You tap into something in a way that no other writer I know has ever done so - you are so raw, and your words so beautiful, that the imagery created is beyond measure. I will never have the right words to tell you how much I appreciate having you in my life - I am, seriously, all the more better for it.

Absolutely second Tori's words. I'm not going to hide it, Bee, but I could feel the pinpricks of tears forming as soon as I glanced the beautifully nostalgic photographs...These words flow like poetry...everything just 'fits' perfectly together and it's difficult not to be totally enchanted and compelled by them.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Especially "lifted their cheeks to be kissed by the creases of their eyes". I could see it perfectly, right there in front of me.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous writing - as always.
